First Spring Observation

4/10/2013

Today we made our first spring observations and started our environmental studies of Mr. B's Backyard. We will be applying what we read and learn directly to our local environment and its organisms. We started today making observations of organisms and the abiotic and biotic factors of Mr. B's Backyard.

Answer the following questions:
1. What organisms did you observe today in Mr. B's and what needs would be met in Mr. B's Backyard?
2. What signs of spring did you observe?

1. I saw bugs, tadpoles, and a brown white tailed rabbit.

2. I always know its spring when the birds start singing loud and clearly in the early morning. Also if there are bugs, you know its definitely spring.

I observed many insects like the dragonfly nymphs, water spiders, water boatmans, aquatic worms, and many others. The signs of spring i observed was good weather, trees starting to grow leaves again and the animals came out at Mr. B's backyard.

1. I saw birds , frogs, tad pools ,squirrels , snakes , rabbits, groundhogs holes , insects etc.
The needs that need to be met in the students be able to interact with the animals.
2. The signs of spring that I observe was flower buds blooming , the sun out , little clouds , warm weather , animals playing , water shining.

I observed a tad pool which was really cool and i never even knew that they existed. I think what Mr.B's needs to improve with is nothing actually. I think its going great how Mr.B's is right now. Signs of spring i observed was that it wasn't cold and a rabbit was out of its hibernation.

1. I saw multiple organisms at Mr.B's backyard such as bullfrogs, tadpoles, groundhogs, birds, and bunnies.
2. Some signs of Spring that we observed were cool breezes, warm weather, and flowers that were bloomed.

I observed birds eating insects over lakes, bullfrogs jumping into the water, tadpoles swimming around, and plants growing larger. Needs that are met in Mr. B's Backyard include food, shelter, and water.
Signs of spring that I observed were the increase in birdsong, leaves sprouting from trees, lots of flowers, and in increase in bullfrog appearances.

At Mr.B's backyard we sall ducks, snakes, and bull frogs, it was fasinating to see all these animals. We could tell it was spring beacuse all the birds were singing. If the birds sing it means they are looking for a partner, and i found that interesting.

I observed an insect, I don't remember the name. They need water and food in the water to live. Signs of spring i saw was buds in trees, lots and lots of sunlight and green grass. Some flowers are about to bloom and trees now have leaves.

1. I observed snakes, plenty of birds, ground hog holes, and many more. Snakes hide in the shadows and you need to be very quiet. Birds are every where above. ground hog holes are deep and not hidden very well. I'm suprised I didn't trip in one!
2. Signs of spring are the heat, the sun, the flowers, the leaves, the grass, and paradise.

1. We saw a variety of birds, buds starting on the trees and bushes, and insects.

1. I saw red-wnged black birds,mallard, and a bull frog. They would need water, food, and shelter.2. Animals are everywere,its becoming warm out, birds starting to mark terrortory, grass growing and some trees started to bloom.

1. We saw birds, mallards, and Bull Frogs they would need water, food, and other animals of themselves to mate. 2. The signs of spring are that the birds are starting to sing and it is getting warm and also trees are blooming and grass is regrowing.

Our first day of spring was a blast! We searched for living species and we did. I saw a snake, bird and many different insects. It was a really fun day!

Today I observed a turtle. Some of the needs that are met are the food and the water in Mr.B's backyard. I observed the trees blossoming and the birds chirping. Those are obvious signs of spring.

I saw several birds flying over Mr. B's backyard today. The needs met by Mr.B's backyard are the numerous bird boxes and trees for nesting, two ponds (for water), grass and straw for making nests, and many types of bugs to eat. Some of the first signs of spring I noticed were the buds on the trees, and the increased number of bugs.

1. On the day that we had gone outside we had observed many things. There were many growing and blooming trees and flowers. There had been frogs, birds, insects and living organism in the water that we had seen. In Mr.B's backyard, there is many factors for wildlife to survive, such as; water, shelter, and many insects that are preyed on.
2. Some signs of spring that we had observed were, trees and flowers blooming, and more wildlife had appeared.

I Observed Tadpoles, Mites, Dancel fly nyph and Dragon Flies nyph. The first sign of spring I observed was the buds on the trees.

I saw many organisms that day. There was a Holly tree and many pine trees. There was colorful buds blooming on some of the trees.
Some signs of spring were the flowers blooming, birds singing, and trees flowering. It was also very humid outside. The temperature was 89 degrees fahrenheit. When the male bird sings he tries to attract female birds and let the other males know not to cross his territory.

1. An organism that I saw was a few tag pole. Also a need is a lot of fresh water and lots of food.

2. What I observe for spring is that more animals are comings out and the trees are blossoming.

We found tadpoles, red tailed hawks, and many other species of birds. There was a warm climate with a slight cool wind to give a perfect habitat for most of the birds. There were enough bugs for the birds to live on and balance out the ecosystem. The hawks as well have a balance of a diet consisting of smaller mammels and birds. Sunlight glared down on us, revealing the majesty of new flowers giving new signs of spring.

1) I observed organisms such as animals and plants. Some animals and plants were frogs, snakes, birds, dandelions, and trees. Needs that would be met in Mr. B’s Backyard for these organisms are the ability to get water, food, and shelter.
2)I observed several signs of spring. Flowers were blossoming, trees were regaining their leaves, birds and other animals were returning from migration, and animals such as tadpoles were increasing in number.

Today I learned that fireflies live underwater for the first 3 months of their lives. Then the final month of their lives their lives they live and fly outside. One thing that I was surprised by was each time I took water I found little bugs in it. I observed tadpoles swimming around in the lake. I think that if we cleaned Mr. B's up a little more it could look nicer. I observed spring because I saw leaves growing on trees and flowers growing.

1. I observed multiple organizams in Mr.B's. I saw birds, fish, a few groundhog holes, and so much more. Mr.B's provides food, selter, sunlight, fresh water, and much more for it's inhabitants.
2. I observed many more organizams than I did the first time I came out. I also saw lots of plats and trees growing.

1. Today I observered many different types of species. One species I observed today was a turtle. Mr.B's backyard is suitable for turtles because Mr.B's provides fresh water and plants, which turtles need to live. Also today I encountered a bullfrog, it had a deep croak and was very large. The bullfrog needs fresh water to grow and swim when it's a tadpole, which Mr.B's provides with the pond. Additionaly, today i observed a crow, it was deep black and was flying near the tree's. Mr.B's backyard provides trees, shelter,and prey for the crow to survive.

2. Today I observed some signs of spring. One sign of spring that I observed was the buds and blossoms on the trees. Spring is the season when the blossoms and buds start to come out, due to the warm weather and other circumstances. Also I heard the birds singing, which is another sign of Spring. Spring is mating season for most birds, and durring mating season males sing to attract the females, so they can mate. Another sign of spring is the water level went down, due to the rise of temperaure durring the spring.

1. I observed many organisms in Mr. B's Backyard. I saw some various types of birds. I saw a hawk gliding across the sky, and it was really cool. Also, there are many other colorful birds that fly around in Mr. B's Backyard. Their needs are met because shelter is available and food is provided from the birdhouses.

2. I observed many signs of spring when I visited Mr. B's Backyard. The grass was taller, and the noises were louder. I could hear birds chirping, and see them flying around. More organisms were out and about, and it was a more livlier experience for all.

1. I saw an American Robin, and it's need for shelter was met by the birdhouses we have scattered around the pond. I also saw a Killdeer bird whose need for shelter was supplied by the bird boxes as well.
2. I was surprised to see that the trees had so many buds on them, the birds were all out and singing, and that the water level had gone down so the dock wasn't underwater anymore.

1.) Some of the organisms that I observed today were tadpoles, a lot of different types of birds, bugs, and other interesting species. On the other hand, some of the needs that have to be met is for example, the litter that comes from everywhere. Also, some of the unnecessary pollutants such as car fuel. Those things can really effect Mr.B's and we need to stop it!
2.) Some signs of spring is showing up, luckily! These signs are examples of flowers, birds coming out of their habitat more often, and the warm weather. It's a really good sign for those who like spring... including me!

2. I saw that the leaves started growing and the frogs and birds came; they don't come in winter.

1. I noticed a variety of organisms in Mr. B's Backyard classroom. The organisms I observed closest were the dragonfly, red-tailed hawk, tadpole, tree swallow, and pitch pine. The basic needs of organisms are water, food, and shelter. The pond meets the need for water. The bird boxes, trees, and brush meet the need for shelter and protection. Plants, algae, insects, and fungi meet the needs for food.
2. One sign of spring I observed was a nest. I was surprised to see the thick nest in one of the bird boxes. In addition, across the pond, there were two tree swallows flying in and out of another bird box while they were searching for food.

We saw many birds and microrganisms at Mr. B's. Such as, Dragonfly nymph, Tadpoles, Bullfrogs, Diving Beetle and many more. Mr. B's provides these organisms food, protection, and shelter.
We noticed many sighns of spring at Mr.B's. The trees started to bloom. In addition, Most animlas were coming out of hibernation and birds started to sing.

1. I saw a couple of birds and frogs in Mr. B's Backyard. The pond on the left of Mr. B's Backyard Classroom should fill up, and i expect a larger variety of animals to appear.
2. Plants were starting to bloom, and birds started to come. Also, the birdhouses were full again.

In mr.b's i observed some ducks birds and plants blooming. the duck was a male mallard and it was a res shouldered bird. the plants and trees are starting to bloom.

The signs of spring i observed is that it is starting to warm up and birds are coming back. also the plants are starting to bloom. I see some ducks mating and nests coming in.

1. Organisms that I observed were a Dragonfly Nymph, a leech, a water boatmen, a centipede, and a Damselfly. The basic needs in Mr. B's backyard were water, food, and shelter.

We observed many organisms at Mr B's. Some of them were snakes, birds, groundhogs but there were many others. Mr B's provides all of the animals with food, shelter, and water. For example, the birdhouses and feeders provide nutrients to the birds. Also, the groundhog and snake holes give them protection from predators and helps them catch their prey. Most of all, the ponds covering most of Mr B's, give all of the animals water which they need the most. Today we did not just observe the organnisms. We saw many signs of spring. The trees surrounding the habitat were budding with flowers and leaves. In addition, our ears were filled with many bird songs which we did not hear as much in our earlier visits to Mr B's. Lastly, wildflowers were beginning to cover the area and tadpoles were swimming around in the larger pond. From all of these things happening, we are very excited to go again.

1. I observed Snakes, tadpoles, multiple bugs, birds, and bees. The needs that are in Mr. B's were trees for nesting, water for tadpoles, bugs, and snakes, and tree's high enough for bee's to put their bee hive's.

The organisms that I observed were dragonfly's and beetles and some tadpoles. These were found in the mud that coats the bottom of the water. The need that Mr. B's backyard need is cleaner water for the animals, Food like insects for animals to feed on, also shelter for the animals to live in.

The signs of spring that i saw where that the levees on trees started to grow on the tree. Also the animals like snakes and frogs started to come out from under ground.

Today I observed some water snakes, bullfrogs and the requierments needed for these organisms found in Mr.B's backyard are insects that mostly are found most aboundant during spring season. And plants are alos needed for these organisms also.

The signs of spring that I notice are more plants and flowers which mostly indicates spring. There are frogs and snakes and many insects.

I studied the plants of Mr. B's backyard- mostly trees and flowers. Also, we were studying the tadpoles that could easily be spotted. I felt the heat of spring slowly start to creep in outside, the flowers were starting to bloom, the trees were starting to get their buds, and the birds were chirping away.

1. I saw many different kinds of animals. Unlike last time they were all hibernating. I saw 2 large snakes, a ton of tadpoles, and many different species of birds and ducks.

Some organisms we saw outside were birds and squirrels. Aside from there being many more animals out, a sign that spring was coming was the flower buds on the trees.
